The name Montmains simply describes a "Medium-sized mountain" that is lower than two neighboring peaks. As early as 1537, several spelling variations were used for this climat/land, such as "Montméen" or "Montmoyen".
This estate has been in the Gautherin family for eight generations. For the past decade Adrien Gautherin has been working together with his father to produce a variety of quality chablis wines from their vineyards.

Terroir and location: Montmains has southeast and northeast exposure. It receives early morning sun and usually colder than other climats.
