We are a Melbourne based exclusive French wine import company. Grandet derives its name from the novel “Eugenie Grandet” authored by famous French writer Honoré de Balzac hailing from Loire region in France.
As our team has its French origins in the medieval town of “Chinon” located in the Touraine sub-region resting by the banks of Vienne river, Grandet takes its inspiration from the ‘bon-vivant’ culture of this region to our passion for the art of wine making and the tradition of fine-wine trade. (Trivia- Chateau-Chinon was the residence of both Henry II-English King, and French queen- Eleanor d'Aquitaine, and Jeanne d’Arc is known to had visited the king in this majestic medieval chateau).
